Heed the Call is a short period drama written and directed by Laura G. Chirinos about a young woman facing sexism and rumors of the 'lesbian threat' as she joins the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, formed in 1942. The story draws on the director's grandmother Wilma, one of 440 women chosen from more than 35,000 applicants for the first WAAC Officer Candidate School. The film was shot in Los Angeles over a seven-day window in July 2017. In late 2017 Ben was asked to write original cues for several scenes.
