Colette Eloi (EL WAH Movement Dance Theater)

An African diasporic and contemporary dance-theater piece whose title refers to the Maafa, the historical catastrophe of the transatlantic slave trade. It was presented on CubaCaribe's 2018 festival, themed 'The Movements of Migration.'

Choreography: Colette Eloi. Music: Ben Juodvalkis (includes Colette singing, a prayer recording, and short excerpts of US, UK, French and Dutch national anthems for the 'calamity' sections around a Yemaya section). Rehearsals at Malonga Casquelourd Center, Oakland. Dancers (from Drive access requests, unconfirmed): possibly Audra Tipton-Moore, Isaura Oliveira.
